Billing Tips

  • The diagnosis code (ICD-9) must match the CPT code

Medicare Billing

With our lease agreement it is possible to bill Medicare.
  • You can only bill for the Technical Component of the study (TC modifier)
  • Doctors who bill for the technical components (TC) and interpretations (global) for the studies have to be certified by Medicare.

Medicare Reimbursement

  • Reimbursement for echocardiograms with a TC modifier, on average, is $190.00
  • Reimbursement for echocardiograms (global) is approximately $250.00
  • Reimbursement for vascular studies with a TC modifier, on average, is $160.00
  • Reimbursement for vascular studies (global) is approximately $220.00

Private Insurance Billing

  • No lease agreement is necessary
  • You can bill globally - that means you can bill for the Technical Component and the Interpretation (no modifier is needed)

Private Insurance Reimbursement

  • Reimbursement for echocardiograms on average is $300.00-$700.00
  • Reimbursement for vascular studies on average is $230.00
  • Reimbursement is approximately 60 days.
